Keep Your Guard Up!

1 Peter 5:8 warns us to be on the alert, because our adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking to devour us. As Christians we should always be on high alert—never letting our guard down assuming satan is not on his job. When one has a relationship with God, we are in spiritual battle in this world, so satan will use anybody or anything to catch us off guard or place a stumbling block in our way. In Judges 16, satan used Delilah to destroy Samson and in Mark 10:17-27, although this unknown named rich young ruler obeyed the commandments, satan used his possessions to destroy him. One may ask, “How do I keep my guard up?” Ephesians 6:11 instructs us to, “Put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Without God’s help, we cannot stand against our enemy.
