The psalmist David declared in Psalm 40:1 GWT, “I waited patiently for the LORD. He turned to me and heard my cry for help.” The word “patiently” in Psalm 40:1 means uncomplaining, long-suffering or not wearying. Being patient is key to trusting God. We prove that we trust God when we refuse to worry. (Philippians 4:6) If we’re walking by faith, waiting and resting on the promises of God, we don’t have to question God’s when or how? We can rest and take comfort in knowing, God’s promises are unquestionable and His purpose is to bring good out of any test. One of the most discouraging things is when people say, “I promise—you have my word,” but they don’t keep their word. People of integrity give their word and keep it, regardless. That’s what I love about God, “it is impossible for God to lie.” (Hebrews 6:17–18 ESV) Every word God says is true. Because God never lies, we can be certain whatever word/scripture God has given us—He will do it and He will never fail us! As Jesus spoke to His disciples, He speaks to us today in Luke 18:1 HCSB when He says, “pray always and do not become discouraged.” The success of our prayers is founded on us having absolute trust in the power and will of God. (Romans 8:28) It’s a must that we believe "what we pray will come to pass!" (Mark 11:23) God desires and He’s pleased when we come to Him asking for His help and strength. Some of the hardest moments in life are the timeframes between believing God’s promise and receiving the fulfillment of God’s promise. When waiting on test results, after you’ve prayed, fasted and quoted scriptures, yet still can’t help but be uneasy. Between interview after interview and the call saying, “You’ve got the job!” During those times we must walk by faith, hold tight to God’s promises, knowing God is faithful!
