In Phil 3:13, Apostle Paul uses the illustration of a runner who focuses on the goal ahead, which prevents distractions and stumbling.  Whenever attentions or emotions are absorbed by the past, it hinders forward momentum and progress. Keep a clear mind and remain alert, our opponent, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
